This is a fixed term position until 4th April 2027.
The ward clerk role consists of two core functions: providing a warm welcome for patients and their families to the ward in addition to other visiting colleagues, and offering efficient clerical service to the ward team, including a good working knowledge of the trust digital systems and maintaining stock control of equipment and consumables specific to the ward.
Main duties of the jobThe ward clerk will also support the delivery of the local patient experience agenda, using various methods to capture real‑time patient feedback across the department. Data collection and reporting, including the Friends and Family Test, will be an essential part of this role and will involve one‑to‑one interaction with patients and/or their families.
Qualifications- Educated GCSE level standard or equivalent
- Basic alphabetical and numerical skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Basic keyboard skills
- Organisational skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team
- Understanding of confidentiality
- Knowledge of health and safety
