This role offers a unique opportunity to work within a specialist Staff Engagement and Communications Team while aligned to the Senior Administrative Officer grade. Applicants should be confident communicators with strong written and verbal English skills, able to engage a wide range of colleagues and present information clearly. You will need to be organised, proactive and able to approach challenges creatively, using innovative thinking to support engagement and business delivery.

Occasional travel across the region will be required, so flexibility and a collaborative approach are essential.

Senior Administrative Officers play a significant role, as they act as an interface between Business Managers, colleagues, and other partners on a wide range of issues. They will have line management responsibilities for Receptionist, Case Administrators, and other administrative staff. It’s a challenging and rewarding role, with great training, support, and opportunities to progress.

Working Arrangements & Further Information

The MoJ offers Hybrid Working arrangements where business need allows. This is an informal, non‑contractual form of flexible working that blends working from your base location, different MoJ sites and / or from home (please be aware that this role can only be worked in the UK and not overseas). Some roles will not be suitable for Hybrid Working.

Standard full‑time working hours are 37 hours per week excluding breaks which are unpaid. HMPPS welcomes part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns, where they meet the demands of the role and business needs. All applications for part‑time, flexible and job‑sharing working patterns will be considered in accordance with the HMPPS’ Flexible Working policy.

The MoJ offers a range of benefits:

  • Annual leave is 25 days on appointment and will increase to 30 days after five years’ service, plus public holidays. Leave for part‑time and job share posts will be calculated on a pro‑rata basis.
