As a Construction Programme Manager, you will play a key role in delivering construction projects that support NHS Blood and Transplants vital services across the UK. You will lead the design, planning and delivery of a diverse portfolio of building projects, ensuring they are completed safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards. Working closely with stakeholders, project teams and senior leaders, you will develop practical estate solutions that support organisational priorities while minimising operational disruption.

You will provide expert construction advice, manage project budgets, oversee project managers, and drive continuous improvement across services and processes. This is an opportunity to make a lasting impact on healthcare infrastructure that helps NHSBT save and improve lives every day.

Main duties of the job
  • Lead the design and delivery of a portfolio of construction projects across the NHS Blood and Transplant estate.
  • Work with stakeholders, project initiators and project managers to define project goals and deliver successful outcomes.
  • Manage projects from inception through to completion, handover and post-project review, ensuring compliance with legislation, governance requirements and organisational standards.
  • Deliver high-quality construction solutions that meet customer needs while minimising risk and operational disruption.
  • Provide expert construction and building advice to colleagues across Estates & Facilities and the wider organisation.
  • Support the development and continuous improvement of construction services, standards and working practices.
  • Line manage Project Managers, setting objectives and supporting performance and development.
  • Manage project budgets, ensuring effective financial control and value for money.
  • Produce project progress, financial and status reports for senior stakeholders and governance groups.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture and ensure compliance with CDM 2015, risk assessments and safe systems of work.
