Position: M&E Quantity Surveyor (Permanent)
M&E Quantity Surveyor

Monday – Friday | 8:00am – 5:00pm (flexible depending on project demands)

We are working with a growing M&E contractor based in Barbican, delivering small-to-medium M&E packages and fit-outs across London, Essex, and Kent.

The business focuses primarily on commercial office and data centre projects, alongside selected residential schemes. They also provide consultancy support to external Quantity Surveyors and Project Managers. Projects are a mix of new build and refurbishment works, typically within live environments.

With a £4 million turnover and a team of 14, this is a close-knit and collaborative company looking to appoint a well-rounded M&E Quantity Surveyor who can take ownership of the commercial function while also supporting estimating where required. They are particularly interested in someone with a broad skill set who is comfortable working across multiple areas of the business.

Work locations include Central London, Basildon, Essex, and Kent. Depending on the project, you may be based at their Barbican office, on-site, or occasionally at a client’s office. Flexible working arrangements can be discussed.

Key Responsibilities

Full commercial management of M&E packages from pre-construction to final account
Cost planning, budgeting, and forecasting
Preparation and submission of interim valuations
Variations management and negotiation
Subcontractor procurement and account management
Cost reporting and financial tracking
Supporting tendering and estimating activities
Client liaison and attendance at commercial meetings
Ensuring projects are delivered within budget and maximise profitability
Candidate Requirements

Proven experience as an M&E Quantity Surveyor within a contractor environment
Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical packages
Experience delivering commercial office or data centre projects (advantageous)
Knowledge of both new build and refurbishment works
Commercially astute with strong negotiation skills
Professional, client-facing approach
Comfortable working within a small, growing business
Salary & Package

Circa £65,000 basic salary (depending on experience and skill set)
Company car / fuel card or travel expenses included
20 days holiday + 8 bank holidays
