We are seeking to appoint a teaching assistant who will work primarily with SEN children who have complex or significant communication & interaction needs. The successful candidate will be part of a small team within our friendly and supportive larger school team. The role involves working with children on a 1:2 or 1:1 basis.

We are seeking to appoint a flexible team player who is prepared to support the class teacher, other colleagues and children. You will need to be well motivated, tenacious and be confident enough to use your own initiative when the need arises. In addition, you must have a firm but fair manner and a genuine desire to support the individual development of the children with whom you work.
You will be expected to uphold all the school’s policies and procedures, paying particular attention to the positive behaviour and reward strategies. Experience of working with children with special educational needs, including those with complex communication & interaction needs is desirable. A willingness and ability to follow the direction of the Teacher and other senior leaders and to follow particular programmes for individual children would be an essential requirement.
Must Have
- Relevant experience working with school-age children
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral
- The ability to use basic technology to support teaching & learning
- A minimum of Level 2 qualification in English and Maths, or a willingness to gain these during the period of employment
- Willingness to undertake training related to the role, including first aid training
- A positive attitude and a desire to work as a member of a team.
- The applicants will get designated planning and resource time for the children they are working directly with and so must have organisational skills to prepare this.
