Reporting to: Quality Manager
Position-based: Flexible / Field-Based (To attend team meetings in the Barnsley Office)
Salary Band: £30–35k per annum
Hours: Full Time
Holidays: 25 + all bank holidays, Birthday off, Christmas Shopping Day

Purpose Of Role
The Quality Advisor plays a pivotal role in ensuring that the quality of learning provision across Total Training Provision is consistently high-performing, innovative, and compliant. This role requires a flexible and proactive professional who can adapt to a variety of qualifications and learning contexts.
You will support and lead internal quality assurance (IQA) processes, promote the development of curriculum design and teaching standards, and provide coaching and training for our Skills Coaches. You’ll drive continuous improvement by fostering creativity, sharing best practice, and ensuring consistency with Ofsted’s Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and the organisation’s Quality Improvement Plan (QIP).
The successful candidate will be solutions-focused, passionate about raising standards, and able to inspire others through innovative approaches to teaching, learning and assessment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Internal Quality Assurance (IQA):
    Conduct IQA across a range of qualifications and delivery models, ensuring assessment practice meets awarding body and regulatory standards.
  • Staff Development & Training:
    Design and deliver professional development sessions for Skills Coaches, focusing on both teaching and assessing standards; support underperforming staff through structured improvement plans while also stretching and developing high performers.
  • Curriculum Innovation:
    Contribute to curriculum design and resource development to ensure learning programmes are engaging, current, and aligned with learner and employer needs.
  • Quality & Performance Monitoring:
    Implement and lead observations of teaching, learning and assessment (OTLA), curriculum deep dives, and learning walks, providing constructive, developmental feedback.
  • Standardisation & Best Practice:
    Manage the process of standardisation across all areas of provision, ensuring best practice is shared, celebrated, and embedded.
  • Collaborative Quality Culture:
    Encourage innovative ideas from colleagues, facilitating a culture where continuous improvement and creativity are valued and recognised.
  • Data & Compliance:
    Analyse quality data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities, supporting the achievement of KPIs and the wider Business Improvement Plan (BIP).
  • Regulatory & Framework Knowledge:
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of the Education Inspection Framework (EIF), ESFA funding rules, awarding body requirements, and apprenticeship standards.

    Collaboration:

    Work with curriculum, operations, and leadership teams to ensure quality standards are embedded and consistent across the learner journey.
Essential Criteria
  • Demonstrable experience in IQA and a solid understanding of the FE and Skills sector.
  • Proven understanding and experience of the Education Inspection Framework (EIF) and Ofsted expectations.
  • Recognised assessing, IQA, and teaching qualifications.
  • Experience supporting staff through developmental feedback and performance improvement plans.
  • Experience of curriculum development and innovative learning design.
  • Excellent communication and coaching skills.
  • Strong analytical, organisational, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Proactive and solutions‑focused mindset, able to turn challenges into opportunities for improvement.
  • Experience of using e‑portfolio systems and online learning tools (e.g. One File).
  • A commitment to promoting high‑quality learning experiences for all learners.
