SEN Teacher - Barnsley

Start Date:Monday 23rd February (after half term)

Contract: Full-time, long-term

Location: Barnsley

Are you an experienced SEN Teacher looking for a rewarding new role after half term? We are recruiting for a dedicated specialist teacher to join a well-established special needs provision in the Barnsley area. The setting caters for primary-aged pupils with a wide range of Special Educational Needs (SEND), providing a highly inclusive, nurturing and structured learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver high-quality, differentiated teaching to pupils with a range of SEND, including those with complex needs.
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that meet individual EHCP (Education, Health & Care Plan) targets.
  • Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, therapists and senior leaders.
  • Use ongoing assessment to track progress and adapt learning accordingly.
  • Promote positive behaviour using consistent, nurturing and trauma-informed strategies.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive classroom environment that supports SEMH, communication and sensory needs.
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
  • Proven experience teaching in a SEND school, specialist provision, PRU, or similar environment.
  • Strong understanding of SEN frameworks, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH, and complex learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding, pupil wellbeing and inclusive practice.
