Barnsley College's Creative Industries Department is seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Art & Design Teacher to join our vibrant team on a temporary, part time basis until the end of the academic year. You will work primarily with Level 2 and Level 3 UAL Art & Design students, delivering high quality teaching, supporting learners in our specialist studios and workshops, and contributing to an outstanding student experience.

You will plan, teach and assess across a range of Art & Design qualifications, helping learners develop technical skills, confidence and their own personal artistic identity. You will play a key role in fostering an engaging, supportive and creative learning environment that aligns with the College's high expectations and learner centred ethos.

You will be a passionate educator with strong knowledge of Art and Design and a desire to support diverse learners on their creative journey. You should be confident working in fast paced, studio based environments and able to adapt your teaching to meet a range of learner needs. Excellent communication, organisation and teamwork skills are essential as you will play a key part in delivering an outstanding curriculum.

Required
  • Degree in Art and Design or a related specialism
  • Teaching qualification (or willingness to work towards one)
  • GCSE Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Experience supporting student success
  • Experience working in an education setting (including teacher training placements)
  • Ability to teach and assess across a range of levels
  • Skilled in working with diverse learners aged 16+
Desirable
  • Specialist design practice
  • Industry experience or experience exhibiting own work
  • Strong personal portfolio
  • Assessor/IV qualifications (A1/2, D32/33)
  • Knowledge of UAL awarding body requirements
