Cover Supervisor

We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated Trainee Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary school in Barnsley. This is a full-time, long-term supply position starting as soon as possible, with excellent training and development provided by both the school and justteachers.

This is a fantastic opportunity to earn up to £120 per day while gaining hands-on classroom experience and building the foundation for a rewarding career in education. The school prides itself on its inclusive, community-focused ethos and commitment to helping every student achieve their best.

• Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring a positive and productive learning environment.
• Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Support pupils in their learning, maintaining engagement and motivation throughout lessons.
• Work collaboratively with teaching and support staff to uphold high standards across the school.
• Contribute to the wider school community, promoting respect, responsibility, and resilience among students.
• Participate in ongoing training and professional development to progress towards a long-term career in education.

• A degree or relevant experience working with children or young people (for example, in a youth work, sports coaching, or social care setting).
• A genuine interest in education and supporting young people to achieve their potential.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to manage classroom behaviour effectively.
• A flexible, proactive, and positive approach to working in a school environment.
• Two recent education or child-based references.
• Knowledge or experience of the UK education system is desirable but full training will be provided.
