Secondary History Teacher

Milk Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic History Teacher to join a supportive and ambitious secondary school in Barnsley. This exciting opportunity involves teaching History across Key Stages 3 and 4, delivering engaging lessons that inspire curiosity, develop critical thinking skills, and help students gain a deeper understanding of historical events, cultures, and their impact on the modern world.
This is a full-time position, available for an immediate start or from September 2026.
Key Responsibilities:- Plan and deliver high-quality History lessons in line with the national curriculum
- Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment
- Monitor and assess student progress, adapting teaching strategies to meet individual learning needs
- Encourage students to develop confidence, analytical skills, and a passion for History
- Support students in developing their understanding of historical enquiry, interpretation, and source analysis
- Work collaboratively with colleagues and wider school staff to support student achievement
- Uphold the values and professional standards of Milk Education and our partner schools
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification
- Specialism in History, with the ability to teach KS3 and KS4
- Strong classroom and behaviour management skills
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities
- Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service (or willingness to obtain one through Milk Education)
