We are currently seeking enthusiastic and motivated Secondary Teaching Assistants to work within a secondary school across Barnsley, to start in September.
This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting young people and helping them achieve their full potential in the classroom.
The RoleAs a Secondary Teaching Assistant, you will:
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small group support to students across a range of subjects
- Work alongside teaching staff to deliver engaging and inclusive learning experiences
- Support students with additional learning needs, ensuring they can fully access the curriculum
- Promote positive behaviour and contribute to a supportive learning environment
- Assist with classroom preparation, resources, and daily organisation
- Encourage students to develop confidence, independence, and positive learning habits
- Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers where appropriate
- Support wider school activities and contribute to the smooth running of the school day
The successful candidate will:
- Have previous experience working with secondary-aged students in an educational or youth-based setting
- Demonstrate an understanding of supporting learners with varying abilities and additional needs
- Be patient, approachable, and confident building positive relationships with young people
- Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Be adaptable and comfortable working within different classroom environments
- Show initiative and a proactive attitude towards supporting learning
- Be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Be willing to undertake relevant training and professional development
