Milk Education is working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Barnsley to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant for a September start
. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to build a rewarding career supporting pupils with a range of additional learning and behavioural needs in a mainstream secondary setting.
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you’ll play a key role in helping students overcome barriers to learning by providing both academic and emotional support. You’ll work closely with teachers, pastoral staff and the SEND department to create a positive, engaging and supportive learning environment where every pupil can succeed.

We’re looking for someone who is:Calm, confident and resilient, with the ability to build positive relationships with young people.
Passionate about supporting pupils with additional learning needs, SEND, SEMH or behavioural challenges.
Patient, empathetic and able to adapt their approach to meet individual student needs.
A strong communicator who can work effectively with teaching staff, pastoral teams and parents.
Proactive, reliable and committed to helping every student achieve their potential.
Able to remain positive and professional in challenging situations.
Supporting students across Key Stages 3 and 4 within the classroom on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
Assisting teachers in delivering engaging and accessible lessons across a range of subjects.
Providing targeted intervention for pupils who require additional academic, emotional or behavioural support.
Encouraging positive behaviour and helping students develop confidence, independence and resilience.
Supporting pupils with SEND, including those with Autism, ADHD, SEMH and moderate learning difficulties.
Implementing behaviour management strategies in line with the school’s policies.
Monitoring student progress and providing feedback to teaching staff and the SEND team.
Helping to create a safe, inclusive and supportive learning environment where all students feel valued.
Supervising students during break times, transitions and other non‑classroom activities where required.
