Job Title: History Teacher

Location: Barnsley

Salary: Up to £200 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: September 2026

As a History Teacher, you will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, encouraging students to develop historical knowledge, analytical thinking and a deeper understanding of significant events and cultures. Working alongside a supportive humanities department, you will help create an inclusive classroom where every learner is encouraged to achieve their best.

• Plan and deliver engaging History lessons across KS3 and KS4.
• Assess, monitor and record student progress.
• Differentiate learning to meet the needs of individual students.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues, parents and carers where appropriate.
• Contribute to the wider life of the school where appropriate.

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Experience teaching History within a secondary school setting.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Excellent communication and organisational skills.
• A passion for delivering high‑quality History lessons.
• An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
• Have the right to work in the UK.
• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
• Be willing to apply for an updated DBS if not already registered.

This role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safety recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
