The Role

You will deliver high-quality English teaching across A Level, GCSE, and/or Functional Skills, supporting learners to achieve strong outcomes and progress into further education, apprenticeships, or employment.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Plan and deliver engaging English lessons across your specialism
  • Teach A Level, GCSE and/or Functional Skills English
  • Differentiate lessons to support mixed-ability and resit learners
  • Assess progress and provide clear, constructive feedback
  • Support learners with exam preparation, coursework, and confidence building
  • Contribute to curriculum delivery and departmental success
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment
Essential Requirements
  • QTS, QTLS, PGCE, or equivalent teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching A Level, GCSE or Functional Skills English
  • Strong subject knowledge (Language and/or Literature)
  • Excellent classroom management and communication skills
  • Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain)
Desirable
  • Experience with in Further Education or Sixth Form settings
  • Strong results with GCSE resit learners
  • Ability to teach across multiple levels (FS, GCSE, A Level)
