This role is offered on a Variable Hours contract for services, giving you the flexibility to choose whether to accept work offered to you. The Opportunity

Northern College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated ESOL Teacher to deliver high quality teaching and learning to students whose first language is not English. You will inspire and support learners from a wide range of backgrounds, helping them to develop their English language skills and achieve their individual learning goals.

This role will be delivered primarily within community venues across South Yorkshire, bringing learning directly into local communities and helping learners access education in familiar and accessible settings. As such, flexibility and a willingness to travel to different delivery locations are essential.

Working within a supportive and learner focused environment, you will plan and deliver engaging ESOL lessons, assess learner progress and contribute to a positive and inclusive learning experience. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference to learners’ confidence, employability and progression opportunities.

About You

You are a passionate and adaptable teaching professional with experience of delivering ESOL provision to diverse groups of learners. You have excellent communication skills and are committed to helping students overcome barriers to learning and achieve success.

You will be able to create an inclusive and engaging classroom environment, effectively assess learner needs and tailor your teaching approach to support individual progress. A commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity and continuous professional development is essential.

Below is a list of some of the key skills, qualifications and experience we are seeking for this exciting opportunity.

Required

  • GCSE Maths and English (Level 2 or equivalent)
  • Degree in relative subject area
  • Teaching qualification (must be willing to work towards PGCE if Level 6 not already held)
  • Relevant experience working as a teacher in an education setting (this may include teacher training)
  • Possesses strong ESOL teaching expertise, with a sound understanding of adult learning principles, language acquisition and learner progression.
  • Ability to teach and assess students across different levels using a range of methodology
