Are you confident leading a classroom and looking for an opportunity to support pupils across a secondary school setting? A welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team from September.
About the Role:As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes when their usual teacher is unavailable, ensuring pupils remain focused and complete the work provided. You will deliver clear instructions, manage classroom behaviour and provide support where needed throughout the school day. This role is well suited to someone looking to build their experience in education while making a positive contribution to pupils' learning.

Responsibilities:- Supervise classes across different subjects and year groups.
- Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and provide clear instructions.
- Maintain a calm, orderly and positive classroom environment.
- Support pupils to remain engaged and complete their assigned work.
- Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
- Respond appropriately to questions and provide guidance where required.
- Report relevant issues or concerns to teaching and pastoral staff.
- Help maintain a safe and productive learning environment throughout the school day.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.
- Strong communication and classroom management skills.
- Confidence leading classes independently.
- A calm, organised and reliable approach.
- Ability to follow lesson plans and provide clear instructions.
- Ability to build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
- Experience with in a school or education setting is advantageous.
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
- Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
