Job Title: Science Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Salary: Up to £200 per day (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you a passionate Science Teacher who enjoys making complex ideas accessible and engaging for young people? A welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is looking for a committed Science Teacher to join their team from September.

About the Role:

As a Science Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4, helping students develop their scientific knowledge, practical skills and confidence. You will adapt your teaching to meet different needs, assess progress effectively and create lessons that encourage curiosity and a strong understanding of Science.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver engaging Science lessons across KS3 and KS4.
  • Assess, monitor and record student progress.
  • Differentiate learning to meet the needs of individual students.
  • Deliver practical Science activities safely and effectively where appropriate.
  • Develop students' scientific knowledge, enquiry skills and understanding.
  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Manage classroom behaviour in line with school policies.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to support student progress.
Requirements:
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting.
  • Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills.
  • Confidence delivering both theoretical and practical Science lessons.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • A passion for delivering high-quality Science lessons.
  • An enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or willingness to apply for one through GSL Education.
To work with GSL Education as a Science Teacher, you should:
  • Have the right to work in the UK.
  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.
  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
