We have an exciting opportunity for a Family Support Worker to join our team. The Family Support Worker will be central to coordinating packages of support, often taking on the role of key worker and delivering proven, evidence-based interventions. If you are a highly self-motivated individual with the ability to form strong relationships with families while maintaining professional boundaries, we want to hear from you.

Welcome from the Principal:

As Principal, I am thrilled at the prospect of introducing you to Outwood Academy Carlton, a proud member of the Outwood Grange Academies Trust, serving the community of Royston, Carlton and its surrounding areas. Our core purpose, to ‘Continually and repeatedly grow, well-informed, ‘good’ human beings who are armed with the character, skill, emotional intelligence and qualifications to be personally, occupationally and/or professionally successful people,’ is at the heart of everything we do.

This aligns seamlessly with the Trust’s vision of ‘students first, raising standards and transforming lives,’ ensuring that every student has the opportunity to thrive.

I am immensely proud that our students possess a strong moral code and behave well in and outside of lessons and they actively contribute to the wider community. Our students display an in-depth understanding of protected characteristics and understand the importance of fundamental British values. As an advocate of research informed pedagogical practice I am passionate about our 5 pillars of learning.

Equally, I am proud of how we explicitly teach behaviours through our personal development curriculum and our positive discipline for learning and life practices. This allows all students to understand how to be safe, be responsible, be respectful and be extraordinary in the 21st century.

The unwavering dedication of our staff, who know the needs of students and respond accordingly are pivotal in delivering this holistic education.

We are seeking prospective colleagues who share our passion for developing well-rounded individuals and align with our core purpose. I look forward to welcoming you into our academy.

Mr Paul Taylor

The Role:

We are looking for a proactive, resilient, and collaborative professional who can work directly with families in the local community to break down barriers to learning, with a sharp, hands‑on focus on improving school attendance. The ideal candidate will build strong, professional relationships with families and external partners, empowering parents to make sustainable, positive changes that get their children back into the classroom every day.

You must be highly organised, capable of managing a caseload under pressure, and deeply committed to student welfare, safeguarding, and driving attendance recovery.

Reporting to the Vice Principal and Inclusion Coordinator, your core responsibilities will centre on managing an active caseload as a designated Key Worker, utilising assessment tools to coordinate, implement, and review tailored support plans that directly target persistent absence and increasing individual and academy attendance.

Crucially, you will coordinate and attend school attendance panels to get kids back into school, progressing enforcement measures where necessary.

Additionally, you will build parental capacity, assist families in accessing external specialist services and financial benefits to eliminate practical obstacles keeping children from school, organise community support sessions, and maintain precise, confidential records on CPOMS while collaborating closely with the academy’s safeguarding, attendance, and inclusion teams.

We are very proud of our Faculty and would welcome you to visit.
