PK Education are recruiting enthusiastic PE Cover Supervisors to work across secondary schools in Barnsley and the surrounding areas from January 2026.

This is a fantastic opportunity for sports coaches, Sports Science graduates, experienced Cover Supervisors and aspiring PE Teachers looking to gain valuable classroom experience.

You don't need to be a qualified teacher!

As a PE Cover Supervisor, you'll supervise pre-planned PE lessons when the usual teacher is absent. Depending on the school's requirements, this may include practical sports sessions, classroom-based PE theory or general classroom cover.

The Role

Supervising PE lessons across KS3 and KS4

Supporting practical activities including football, basketball, athletics and other sports

Delivering instructions for pre-planned lessons

Encouraging participation, teamwork and positive behaviour

Ensuring students follow health and safety procedures during practical activities

Managing classroom behaviour and maintaining school expectations

Providing general classroom cover when required

The Ideal Candidate

Experience coaching, teaching or supporting young people

Confidence leading groups of secondary-aged students

A good understanding of sport and physical education

Strong behaviour management and communication skills

Enthusiastic, reliable and adaptable

An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one
