Principal Technician - Civil and Structural Engineering

We're looking for an experienced Civil or Structural Technician to step into a senior role within a well-established and forward-thinking Consultancy. This is a great opportunity to take the lead on a wide mix of interesting projects, support and guide a growing technical team, and play a real part in the continued success of the business.

In this role, you'll provide technical leadership across the team, making sure drawings and deliverables are accurate, consistent and to a high standard. You'll oversee drawing production on several projects at once, help manage and improve ISO 9001 and ISO 19650 systems, and take the lead on technical assurance, compliance and risk. You'll also act as a senior point of contact for clients and other stakeholders, helping to build strong relationships and support repeat and new work through the quality of what the team delivers.

You'll need to be confident leading others, comfortable working at a detailed technical level, and able to understand the commercial side of projects too. A big part of the role is mentoring and supporting colleagues, encouraging continuous improvement, and working closely with the directors to help shape where the Consultancy goes next.

The role is based in the Barnsley area with hybrid working in place, typically three days in the office and two from home.
