An established civil engineering and infrastructure contractor delivering complex projects across the utilities, power and environmental sectors. The business works within regulated environments for major clients including National Grid, Northern Powergrid and the Environment Agency, maintaining a strong reputation for safety, quality and reliable project delivery.
Due to continued growth, the company is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of projects from tender through to final account.
The RoleThe Quantity Surveyor will be responsible for the commercial and contractual management of civil engineering and infrastructure projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, efficiently and profitably. The role involves close collaboration with operational teams, clients and supply chain partners.
Key Responsibilities Commercial & Contractual Management- Manage the commercial aspects of multiple civil engineering and infrastructure projects
- Prepare, submit and agree interim applications for payment and final accounts
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations and client frameworks
- Monitor budgets, costs and forecasts, identifying risks and opportunities
- Prepare accurate cost value reconciliations (CVRs) and financial reports
- Support cash flow forecasting and commercial performance reviews
- Procure subcontractors and suppliers in line with company procedures
- Prepare and manage subcontractor orders, valuations and payments
- Build and maintain effective relationships across the supply chain
- Work closely with clients including National Grid, Northern Powergrid and the Environment Agency
- Attend project meetings and contribute to commercial discussions
- Assist with the resolution of commercial issues and disputes
- Identify and manage commercial risks and opportunities
- Ensure adherence to internal governance, procedures and industry standards
- Promote best practice in cost management and commercial controls
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor within civil engineering and/or infrastructure
- Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (NEC3 / NEC4)
- Experience delivering projects in utilities, power or environmentally regulated sectors
- Strong commercial awareness and analytical capability
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management
- Experience working within framework agreements
- Membership of or working towards RICS (or similar)
