Senior / Lead Mechanical Engineer
Are you an experienced Mechanical Engineer who enjoys leading bespoke engineering projects from concept to delivery? Do you have a background in mechanical handling, special purpose machinery or industrial equipment? Would you like to play a key role in a growing engineering business where your technical expertise will make a real impact?

- Leading mechanical design and engineering projects from concept through to manufacture and installation
- Producing and reviewing engineering drawings and technical documentation
- Managing project timelines, budgets and technical deliverables
- Supporting customer meetings and technical discussions
- Coordinating with manufacturing, procurement and installation teams
- Mentoring and supporting junior engineers
- Driving continuous improvement across engineering standards and processes
You’ll be joining a well‑established engineering business specialising in bespoke mechanical handling and engineered systems projects across a range of industrial sectors. Due to continued growth, they are expanding their engineering team in Barnsley.
What you’ll need- Strong mechanical engineering and project delivery experience
- Experience with in mechanical handling, special purpose machinery, industrial equipment or heavy engineering environments
- Proficiency using 3D CAD packages such as Solid Works, Inventor or similar
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, DFM and engineering best practice
- Experience leading projects and coordinating multidisciplinary teams
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- Degree qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a similar discipline preferred
