Hull Job Type: Full-time, Permanent Salary: £39,000 - £41,000

Hours:

Monday to Thursday 8:00am - 4:15pm, Friday 8:00am - 4:00pm Are you an experienced Mechanical Instructor, Engineering Trainer, Mechanical Tutor, Engineering Assessor, Trainer Assessor or Maintenance Engineering Tutor looking for a new permanent role in Hull? This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established engineering training environment, delivering practical and theoretical mechanical engineering training to apprentices and adult learners. The role would suit someone already working within engineering education, apprenticeship training, technical training, assessing or workshop instruction who wants to continue developing learners in a structured, supportive and industry-connected environment.

You will support learners with core workshop and engineering skills, helping them develop technical confidence, safe working habits and the practical standards required by industry. The role will involve:
Delivering practical mechanical engineering training Supporting apprentices and adult learners in a workshop/training environment Teaching safe use of hand tools, workshop equipment and engineering processes Delivering training around planned and reactive maintenance Supporting learners with hydraulics, pneumatics and mechanical fault finding Demonstrating lathe, milling and workshop-based skills Monitoring learner progress and providing constructive feedback Supporting learners with different confidence levels and abilities Maintaining professional standards, records and learner support processes Travelling between training sites and employer sites when required We are looking for This role would suit someone currently or recently working as a:
Mechanical Instructor Engineering Instructor Mechanical Tutor Engineering Tutor Mechanical Trainer Engineering Trainer Trainer Assessor Engineering Assessor Maintenance Engineering Tutor Workshop Instructor Mechanical Workshop Tutor You will need practical mechanical engineering experience as well as the ability to teach, coach, assess or support learners. Experience required We are looking for experience in some or all of the following:
Mechanical planned and reactive maintenance Mechanical fault finding, repair and problem solving Hydraulics and/or pneumatics Safe use of hand tools and workshop equipment Lathe and/or milling machine operation Workshop practice, fitting, machining or mechanical assembly Health and safety practices and procedures Learner support, assessment, tutoring, coaching or mentoring Essential requirements Level 3 Engineering qualification or equivalent Strong practical mechanical engineering experience Good communication and interpersonal skills Good computer skills and ability to maintain learner records Full UK driving licence Access to your own vehicle, as public transport is not practical for site travel Right to work in the UK without visa sponsorship Teaching, assessing or IQA qualifications would be useful, but the most important requirement is credible mechanical engineering experience and the ability to support learners in a clear, safe and professional way.
