Graduate Automation Engineer Barnsley S72 £ 35,000 - £40,000

We're looking for a Graduate Automation Engineer to join a forward-thinking manufacturing business that is investing heavily in advanced technology, automation and continuous improvement. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience delivering real-world automation projects that improve efficiency, productivity and quality across a busy production environment.

Working alongside experienced engineers and operational teams, you'll have the chance to develop your skills in robotics, PLC-controlled systems, process optimisation and project delivery while building a long-term career in modern manufacturing.

What You'll Be Doing
  • Identifying and delivering automation and process improvement projects.
  • Supporting the installation, commissioning and integration of robotic systems.
  • Developing and optimising robot programs and automated processes.
  • Assisting with manufacturing improvement and capital investment projects.
  • Using data analysis and Lean methodologies to drive efficiencies.
  • Working closely with production, engineering and management teams to implement new technologies.
What We're Looking For
  • Degree in Robotics & Automation, Mechatronics, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Knowledge of robotics, automation systems and manufacturing processes.
  • Understanding of APQP, PFMEA, Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement techniques.
  • Experience using CAD software, ideally AutoCAD.
  • Strong analytical, fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and organisational abilities.
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally between sites.
