PIU is our Planned Investigation Unit and we care for patients who are undergoing planned procedures and investigations covering a wide range of specialities including gastroenterology, cardiology, rheumatology and respiratory, amongst others.
An exciting position has now become available as a development post on PIU as a fixed term band 6 charge nurse/sister. The post will be for a minimum of 3 months and the successful candidate will be expected to support the current band 6 with coordinating the unit, support the clinical team in particular junior members of staff, and complete management duties in the absence of the lead nurse.
We are looking for someone who is dynamic, hardworking and enthusiastic. They need to have good problem solving skills and be motivated and eager to learn.

Main duties of the jobThe post holder is required to supervise junior staff and students.
The responsibility of the post holder is to manage the delivery of nursing services provided by the overall clinical management team.
The post holder will ensure the effective and smooth running of PIU sessions. They are also expected to support with management duties and deputise for the lead nurse in their absence.
