Project and Operational Support Manager / Matron
As a Project and Operational Support Manager / Matron, you will lead and support major projects that shape the future of Blood Donation and the wider Blood Supply chain. You will work closely with the Project and Operational Support Lead to deliver high‑impact initiatives, introduce new ways of working and guide service improvements across multiple specialist areas. Using your operational expertise, you’ll provide clear direction, evaluate risks and help design solutions that improve performance, safety, and the donor and staff experience.
Your leadership will directly influence how we innovate, improve and maintain excellence in the delivery of safe and effective blood donation services nationwide.
The primary role is to be the Project and Operational Support Manager / Matron for major projects or initiatives, managing a number of specialist areas and to provide expert, proactive and professional leadership on service and product implementation across Blood Donation / Blood Supply chain.
- Provide direct support to the Project Lead and full involvement on major operational projects, initiatives or work areas.
- Provide leadership, vision and direction to develop the Operational strategy across Blood Donation / Blood Supply; provide direct support to the Project Lead and full involvement on the implementation of a range of programmes/changes, standardisation initiatives, new ways of working, introduction of new technology, service and product development and improved performance across Blood Donation / Blood Supply.
- Collaborate with senior management teams to identify operational improvements for the complete Blood supply chain.
- Provide direct support to the Project Lead and full involvement to develop a number of specialist departments or initiatives.
- Providing advice on standards and specifications for systems, processes, consumables and equipment and providing operational expertise for evaluation, procurement processes and projects.
You will be required to travel and spend time away from base, which will involve working irregular hours and overnight stays when required, with prior notice.

Person Specification Qualifications Essential- Educated to Masters degree level in relevant business related subject,
- supported with post qualifying experience or substantial work experience at a similar level.
- Demonstrates commitment to own continued professional development (CPD)
- Possess a valid UK driving licence with no more than 6 points allowing the holder to drive in the UK.
- Experience of planning over short, medium and long‑term time frames and adjusting plans and resource requirements accordingly.
- Proven experience of identifying performance trends and root causes of performance issues.
