The Band 6 Clinical Educator is responsible for supporting the delivery of high-quality, evidence based patient care by leading and facilitating education, training, and professional development across the multidisciplinary team MDT within the Acute Medical Unit AMU. The post holder will foster a positive learning environment, ensuring staff have the knowledge, skills, and competencies required to deliver safe, effective, and compassionate care.
Mainduties of the job
Key responsibilities include planning, coordinating, and delivering clinical education programmes for nursing and support staff within the AMU. The Clinical Educator will provide ongoing clinical support, supervision, coaching, and mentorship to promote professional development, competency, and adherence to national and local standards.
The role includes maintaining oversight of mandatory and role specific training compliance, monitoring staff competency records, and ensuring training documentation is accurate, current, and aligned with organisational requirements. The post holder will identify learning needs through appraisal outcomes, incident reviews, audit findings, and service priorities, developing targeted educational interventions to address gaps in practice.
The Clinical Educator will lead and participate in clinical audits, analyse audit data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement, and present findings to the multidisciplinary team. Working collaboratively with clinical leaders and governance teams, the post holder will support the implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of quality improvement QI initiatives to enhance patient outcomes, patient safety, and service effectiveness.

- Previous experience of Acute Medicine Advanced Life Support, willing to work towards GIC.
- 1st level Registered Nurse.
