PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES

To receive and direct patients and other professionals in a courteous and efficient manner.

To operate the telephone system

To make appointments on the computerized system.

To deal with enquiries from patients and other professionals.

To process computerized repeat prescriptions in the prescribed manner.

To record messages and requests for home visits on the computer in the prescribed manner.

To open and process mail

To file correspondence and medical records and to extract same as appropriate.

To generate and issue standard computerized letters.

To input and extract data from the computerized medical system

Photocopying documents

To process patient hospital referrals on an online booking system

To cover for absent colleagues

Liaise with patients, hospitals and chemists as requested by the Gps

Supporting and assisting the Doctors during surgery times as required

Liaising with secondary care providers and arranging transport as necessary.

liaise with attached staff, including health visitors, district nurses, midwives, counsellors etc

Any other task required by the Gp or practice manager.

Be able to send and receive emails.

Duties could possibly be amended due to the changing needs of the Practice and NHS healthcare.
