The Opportunity
Barnsley College is looking for an enthusiastic and customer-focused IT Junior Support professional to join our IT Services team.
This is an exciting opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in IT within a large and diverse organisation that supports thousands of staff and students. Working as part of a dedicated IT team, you will play a key role in ensuring users can access and effectively utilise the College's technology systems.
The successful candidate will provide first and second line support, responding to technical queries via the Service Desk, telephone, email and face-to-face support. You will assist with the maintenance, installation and repair of IT equipment, support the deployment of hardware and software, and contribute to maintaining a secure and efficient IT environment.
You will also have the opportunity to be involved in IT projects, support onboarding activities for new staff, manage IT assets and inventory, and work alongside experienced colleagues to help deliver outstanding IT services across the College.
This role is ideal for a motivated individual who enjoys problem-solving, delivering excellent customer service and building a career in information technology.

Required
* Level 2 English and Maths or equivalent qualification (or willingness to work towards)
* Previous experience in providing 1st line IT support
* Previous experience in the use and support of IT systems in a Windows server-based environment
* Previous experience in the use and support of Microsoft technologies (i.e. M356, Windows)
* Knowledge of maintaining and supporting PC and associated peripheral hardware
* Good fault-finding skills
* Understanding of cyber security
* Excellent communication skills
* Ability to use initiative
* Good time management skills with ability to prioritise work
* Smart and presentable
* Motivation to work with children, young people and vulnerable adults
* Ability to form and maintain highly effective relationships and personal boundaries with children, young people and vulnerable adults
* Emotional resilience with challenging behaviours
