BHF Property Services Barnsley is looking for a motivated and experienced Cleaning Supervisor to lead our cleaning team and ensure high standards across all sites. The ideal candidate will be hands on organised and confident in managing staff completing quality checks and maintaining a professional, efficient cleaning service. This role involves overseeing daily tasks supporting team members liaising with client, and ensuring every space is left spotless and hygienic.

Job Statement

To ensure the delivery of high quality IPC cleaning services across designated sites in South Yorkshire by supervising cleaning operatives, conducting infection control audits and supporting the Area Cleaning Manager in maintaining safe compliant environments.

Key Responsibilities

IPC Operational Delivery

  • Conduct weekly IPC audits documenting compliance and identifying improvements
  • Ensure all IPC cleaning tasks meet BHF Cleaning Solutions standards and client requirements
  • Oversee correct use of disinfectants sanitisation products and colour coding systems
  • Provide hands on IPC cleaning support when required

People Supervision

  • Supervise, motivate, and support IPC cleaning operatives
  • Deliver training on IPC procedures, PPE use, and safe working practices
  • Monitor attendance, performance, and adherence to IPC protocols
  • Support rota planning and emergency cover

Communication & Reporting

  • Report audit findings, site issues, and staffing concerns to the Area Cleaning Manager
  • Maintain accurate records of IPC audits, stock and training
  • Build positive relationships with clients and site contacts

Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all staff follow IPC COSHH and health & safety procedures
  • Monitor equipment condition and arrange repairs or replacements
  • Maintain stock levels of IPC approved chemicals and ensure safe storage
Knowledge and Skills
  • Strong knowledge of IPC cleaning standards including disinfection protocols colour coding and safe systems of work
  • Audit and compliance skills able to complete detailed weekly site inspections
  • Team supervision and leadership with the ability to motivate and support cleaning operatives
  • Training and coaching ability particularly around IPC procedures PPE use and safe working practices
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Time management and organisational skills able to prioritise across multiple sites
  • Problem solving skills with a proactive approach to resolving issues quickly
  • IT literacy, able to complete audit forms, reports, and digital documentation
  • Knowledge of COSHH safe chemical handling and health & safety legislation
  • Ability to work independently making confident decisions when supporting sites and staff
