Barnsley Hospice is seeking a motivated and compassionate Housekeeping Assistant to join our Housekeeping Team.
About the RoleAs a Housekeeping Assistant, you will play a vital role in maintaining a clean, safe and welcoming environment for our patients, visitors, volunteers and staff. Working as part of our Housekeeping Team, you will assist with cleaning and laundry services across the hospice, ensuring high standards of hygiene and infection prevention are maintained at all times.
This role is particularly suited to someone who takes pride in their work, can work independently when required, and understands the importance of creating a comfortable environment for people receiving specialist palliative and end-of-life care.
Key Responsibilities- Maintain high standards of cleanliness throughout the hospice in line with cleaning schedules and infection control procedures.
- Carry out housekeeping and laundry duties, ensuring linen is handled safely and appropriately.
- Safely use cleaning equipment and materials in accordance with Hospice policies and guidelines.
- Report maintenance issues, equipment defects and any concerns to the Housekeeping Team Leader.
- Accurately complete cleaning records and documentation as required.
- Support the safe handling and disposal of clinical and sanitary waste.
- Ensure stock levels of cleaning products are maintained and rotated appropriately.
- Help provide a welcoming and supportive environment for patients, visitors and colleagues.
- Has experience in a housekeeping, cleaning, domestic services or similar role.
- Understands the importance of hygiene, cleanliness and infection prevention standards.
- Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Can work independently and use their initiative, particularly during weekend shifts.
- Is highly organised with strong attention to detail.
- Works collaboratively and positively as part of a team.
- Is reliable, professional and committed to delivering a high-quality service.
