We are looking for a Team Member Cleaner at the Barnsley Metrodome

Job Purpose

To maintain a high standard of cleanliness, hygiene, and presentation throughout the leisure centre, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for customers, staff, and visitors across all wet and dry areas.

Key Responsibilities Cleaning Duties
  • Clean and maintain wet side changing rooms, including poolside areas, showers, toilets, and lockers.
  • Clean and maintain dry side changing rooms, including showers, toilets, and locker areas.
  • Carry out regular cleaning in high footfall areas, including:
    • Reception and entrance areas
    • Corridors and access routes
    • Dry side activity areas
  • Maintain cleanliness in fitness studios, ensuring floors, mirrors, and equipment areas are clean and presentable.
  • Clean and sanitise the food court / café seating areas, including tables, chairs, floors, and waste disposal points.
Hygiene & Safety
  • Follow all cleaning schedules and hygiene standards in line with company and health & safety policies.
  • Ensure safe use and storage of cleaning chemicals and equipment (COSHH compliance where applicable).
  • Promptly address spillages and hazards, particularly in wet areas, to prevent accidents.
  • Dispose of waste and recyclables in accordance with site procedures.
Customer Experience
  • Provide a polite and professional presence at all times.
  • Assist customers with basic enquiries where appropriate.
  • Ensure cleaning activities do not disrupt customer experience wherever possible.
Operational Duties
  • Work to daily and weekly cleaning schedules.
  • Complete cleaning checklists and records accurately.
  • Support deep cleaning tasks during quieter periods or scheduled maintenance windows.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Previous cleaning experience (ideally in leisure, retail, or high-traffic environments)
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, products, and equipment
  • Ability to work in both wet and dry environments
  • Strong attention to detail and hygiene standards
  • Good time management and ability to prioritise tasks
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Working Conditions
  • Work includes early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays
  • Role involves standing, bending, lifting, and working in wet, humid environments
  • Exposure to cleaning chemicals (PPE provided)

Hours of Work Position 1:
Average 23.5 hours per week

Week 1:
Thursday 10.00 - 15.00, Friday 11.00 - 15.00, Saturday 06.30 - 11.00, Sunday 06.30 - 11.00

Week 2:
Tuesday 08.00 - 14.00, Wednesday 08.00 - 14.00, Thursday 08.00 - 14.00. Friday 08.00 - 14.00

Week 3:
Tuesday 08.00 - 14.00, Wednesday 08.00 - 14.00, Thursday 08.00 - 14.00, Friday 08.00 - 14.00

Saturday 06.30 - 11.00

Rates of pay
  • age 16 £ 8.26
  • age 17 £ 9.21
  • age 18+ £12.71
