Production Manager, Manufacturing & Industrial Operations

An established manufacturing business within the metals industry is seeking an experienced Production Foreman to lead its production team at its Barnsley facility.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Production Foreman who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and is passionate about driving safety, quality and operational performance. With a four-day working week, you'll enjoy every Friday, Saturday and Sunday off while leading a skilled production team.
The RoleAs Production Foreman, you will be responsible for the day-to-day supervision of production operations, ensuring output targets are achieved safely, efficiently and to the highest quality standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Leading and motivating production teams to achieve daily production targets.
- Planning workloads and allocating resources to maximise productivity.
- Monitoring production performance, equipment utilisation and workflow.
- Working closely with the maintenance team to minimise downtime.
- Driving a strong health, safety and environmental culture across the factory.
- Conducting toolbox talks, shift handovers and workplace inspections.
- Investigating incidents, near misses and implementing corrective actions.
- Ensuring products consistently meet customer quality standards.
- Monitoring KPIs, analysing production data and identifying opportunities for continuous improvement.
- Completing production reports and maintaining accurate operational records.
- Coaching, developing and supporting production personnel.
To be successful as our Production Foreman, you'll have experience leading teams within a metal manufacturing environment and be confident managing production operations in a busy factory setting.
You'll ideally have:
- At least 3 years' supervisory or Production Foreman experience within a manufacturing or factory environment.
- Previous experience working within the metals industry, ideally involving mills, casting, pressing or similar heavy manufacturing processes.
- Strong leadership and people management skills.
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving abilities.
- The ability to read technical drawings and production documentation.
- Experience using production data, KPIs and Microsoft Excel.
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational efficiency.
Experience with machinery such as saws, routers or welding equipment would be advantageous but is not essential.
What's on Offer- Competitive salary of £40,000 - £50,000, depending on experience.
