Volunteer Driver

Overview

Join our dedicated Patient Experience and Voluntary Services Team and make a real difference in your community. We are looking for compassionate and reliable volunteer drivers to help deliver essential medication and equipment directly to patients' homes, ensuring they receive the care they need when they need it.

• Deliver urgent medications and equipment directly to patients' homes to support patient discharge and continuity of care.
• Travel across Barnsley and occasionally to other local sites.
• Collect and deliver items at scheduled times, typically 4pm and 6pm, Monday to Sunday.
• Handle confidential and sensitive items with discretion.
• Adapt to changing schedules or requirements.
• Respond calmly to unexpected situations such as delays, emergencies, or route changes.
• Communicate clearly, politely, and professionally with patients, carers, and staff.
• Maintain presentable appearance, wear name badge and uniform.
• Work independently and as part of a team.
• Participate in mandatory and role‑specific training.

• Full UK driving licence and clean driving record.
• Reliable vehicle access (private or loan).
• Excellent communication skills and caring attitude.
• Ability to navigate local areas and respond to urgent requests.
• Commitment to upholding Trust values and behaviours.
• Adherence to policies, procedures and confidentiality.
• Willingness to undertake training and renew certifications as required.
• Respect for patients from different cultures, backgrounds and faiths.
• Professional appearance and presentation; wearing name badge and uniform.
