Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon – Barnsley

Full or Part-Time | Small Animal | Surgical Interest | 1:4 Weekends | £50,000–£70,000 DOE | CPD Support

Are you an experienced Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in surgery and a passion for delivering excellent patient and client care?

An exciting opportunity has become available to join a state-of-the-art veterinary practice in Barnsley, South Yorkshire
. This role would suit a dedicated, customer-focused Veterinary Surgeon looking to work within a friendly and supportive team, with excellent opportunities for clinical development.

Both full-time and part-time applications will be considered, providing flexibility while still offering the opportunity to develop your surgical interests within a modern clinical environment.

The Role

As a Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon
, you'll be responsible for delivering high-quality clinical care across a varied caseload while building strong relationships with clients and their pets.

Your role will include:

  • Providing preventative healthcare and routine consultations
  • Diagnosing and treating sick and injured pets
  • Developing appropriate treatment plans
  • Delivering excellent patient and client care
  • Performing surgical procedures appropriate to your level of experience
  • Developing your clinical interest in surgery
  • Promoting pet health and wellbeing
  • Working collaboratively with Veterinary Surgeons, RVNs and the wider team
  • Contributing to a positive and supportive practice culture
Working Pattern
  • Full or part-time hours considered
  • Two late shifts per week
  • 1:4 weekend rota
  • Flexible approach to working arrangements for the right candidate
About the Practice

You'll be joining a friendly, modern veterinary practice with a strong local community feel and a supportive clinical team.

The current team includes 3 Veterinary Surgeons and 4 RVNs
, with a range of clinical interests and skills.

The team currently has vets developing interests in areas including exotics and diagnostic imaging
, meaning there's a varied and interesting caseload coming through the practice.

The practice is passionate about training, mentoring and professional development
, with a strong track record of supporting students and developing colleagues at all levels.

CPD is actively encouraged, with ongoing initiatives designed to identify and support individual skill gaps.

A Supportive Team Environment

About You

We're looking for a Veterinary Surgeon with an interest in surgery who is passionate about delivering excellent clinical care and providing a great client experience.

You’ll ideally:

  • Be an RCVS-registered Veterinary Surgeon
  • Have experience working in small animal general practice
  • Have an interest in developing your surgical skills
  • Be confident managing consultations and a varied caseload
  • Have excellent communication and client care skills
  • Be passionate about preventative healthcare and pet wellbeing
  • Enjoy working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
  • Be proactive about your own learning and professional development

Salary & Benefits
