Responsibilities

  • Varied caseload:
    Work with individuals with learning disabilities living in a variety of settings, including times of change, to develop knowledge and skills across multiple areas.
  • Assessing, protecting and representing in court:
    Assess needs under the Care Act, ensure safety through safeguarding, evaluate capacity of individuals, and represent and advocate for people in court.
  • Teamwork for independence and life opportunities:
    Work with the person, their families, the multidisciplinary team and supportive management to plan, coordinate resources and create positive outcomes, facilitating greater independence and life opportunities.

  • Respond to situations building on people’s strengths using strengths‑based approaches.
  • Develop flexible, creative solutions for positive outcomes, promoting independence and a healthier life.
  • Help people, families, carers and communities make informed decisions for a safer, more independent future using your social work values and skills.
Qualifications and requirements
  • Recognised social work qualification.
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Passion for, and ideally relevant experience of, working with people with learning disabilities.
  • Commitment to producing high‑quality assessments and collaborating with various agencies.
  • Knowledge of key legislation, local and national policy issues, equality and anti‑oppressive practice.
