40 hours per week Working pattern: 22:30 - 08:30 Waking nights, with flexibility to work weekends, bank holidays and other shifts as required Make a difference while families need you most Twenty Four-Seven is looking for caring, reliable and dedicated Family Assessment Waking Night Support Workers to join our residential Family Assessment Centre in Barnsley . This is a rewarding opportunity to work directly with families and play an important role in keeping babies and children safe while parents undertake a residential parenting assessment.

About the role As a Waking Night Support Worker, you will work overnight within our Family Assessment Centre, ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children and families. You will support families in line with their individual plans, observe and record parenting and family interactions, and ensure any concerns are identified and reported appropriately.

Your observations and records will form an important part of the wider assessment process and help Social Work Assessors and the wider professional team understand the progress and needs of each family. Your responsibilities will include Supporting families throughout the night in accordance with their individual plans. Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of babies, children and families at all times.

Carrying out clear, accurate and objective observations. Maintaining detailed electronic records, daily logs and handover information. Following individual family safety and assessment plans. Reporting any concerns promptly to the manager on call. Contributing to parenting assessments through your observations and direct work. Supporting parents to develop their parenting and everyday life skills. Maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Completing required health and safety checks and administrative records.

Following safeguarding, fire safety and organisational procedures. Working positively with Social Work Assessors, Senior Staff and other professionals. Acting as a positive role model to parents and colleagues. Remaining calm, professional and sensitive when working in challenging situations. What we're looking for You don't have to be a Social Worker to apply. We're looking for people who have experience of working with children, young people or families and who genuinely want to make a difference.

Ideally, you will have:

Experience of working with families, preferably two years or more. An understanding of children's needs, development and safeguarding. The ability to observe carefully and record information accurately and objectively.

Experience of supporting families or contributing to assessments. Good communication and relationship-building skills. The confidence to respectfully challenge concerns when necessary. The ability to remain calm and professional under pressure.

Experience of managing difficult situations or conflict. The ability to work independently during waking-night shifts. Good IT skills, including Microsoft Word and email. A positive, non-judgemental and respectful approach to working with families. A commitment to safeguarding and the wellbeing of children. Qualifications A Level 3 qualification in Children's Workforce, Children's Learning and Education or an equivalent qualification is desirable. Relevant qualifications in Social Work, NNEB, Health & Social Care, Youth/Community Work or Learning Disabilities are also welcomed.

If you don't currently hold the required Level 3 qualification, we may consider candidates who have relevant experience and are willing and able to achieve the qualification within 24 months of appointment .
