Finance Assistant
Location:
Barnstaple
Salary:
Up to £24,500 (FTE) depending on experience
Contract:
Fixed Term – 6-month contract
Hours:
22.2 hours per week

The Role
We are looking to recruit a Finance Assistant to provide vital support to our busy Finance Team. You’ll play a key part in maintaining our financial processes, supporting colleagues, and ensuring smooth and efficient financial operations across the organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Process and register purchase ledger invoices, reconcile supplier statements, and support with invoice queries.
* Assist with ensuring purchase orders and invoices meet NDH financial regulations.
* Support income accounting processes, including posting electronic and manual receipts, weekly BACS processing, and payment card administration.
* Raise and post sundry debtor invoices, maintain control accounts, and support debt recovery processes in line with customer service standards.
* Download daily bank transactions and assist with petty cash management.
* Support the preparation of cash and cheque banking.
* Provide cover for Finance team colleagues during periods of absence.
About You
* You will have 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
* You will have experience in a financial environment.
* Strong attention to detail and ability to process data accurately.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times.
* A positive, customer‑focused approach and strong teamwork skills.
* Good organisational skills with the ability to meet deadlines.
* Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
