Specialist Speech and Language TherapistThe closing date is 22 June 2026.
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a band 6 Specialist Speech and Language Therapist to join our acute inpatient team. We offer an opportunity to learn specialist skills and a developmental band 5 to 6 post if required.
ResponsibilitiesAs an adult speech and language therapist with the Royal Devon University Trust - Northern Services (North Devon District Hospital), you will complete assessment, treatment and advice for adults with communication and swallowing difficulties across general medical, surgical wards, the emergency department, intensive care unit and acute stroke ward.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Providing instrumental assessment through the videofluoroscopy assessment clinic and an SLT-led FEES service.
- Supporting acute medical/surgical inpatients, community rehabilitation, stroke and neuro rehabilitation, voice and head and neck outpatient services.
- Shadowing specialist clinics to support career progression and development.
- Developing service, education programmes and research as part of your role.
- Participating in training and development opportunities and CPD.

Pay and career progressionAs a developmental role, you will receive Band 5 pay until you reach Band 6 competencies.
