About the Role
As a Community Occupational Therapist we work closely with patients to enable them to be active members of the community and we offer high quality care to support their needs. Our main objective as part of a community multidisciplinary team is to provide education and intervention to allow patients to have tools to self‑manage, helping them avoid hospital admission and supporting discharges from hospital.
The Ilfracombe Community Rehabilitation Team works across a beautiful section of north Devon including coast and country. The benefits of working in Ilfracombe are access to the coast, moors, golden sandy beaches, and breath‑taking views from Exmoor National Park. To travel throughout this area from Lynton to Braunton and beyond it is essential that the candidate is a car driver and has access to a car to use for work.
Community Rehabilitation is varied and highly rewarding. You will hold and manage your own caseload. As a specialist clinician you will have the opportunity to mentor and supervise other clinicians, reflect, contribute toward your CPD portfolio, and lead on student education.
The Royal Devon’s CARE objectives are at the heart of everything we do. In community therapy we demonstrate these by collaborating with teams and colleagues to provide patient‑centred care, showing compassion toward patients, families, and loved ones, allowing time for them to consider and engage in intervention, and working with integrity by being honest and open with the people we meet.
Hoursand Working Pattern
This Community Occupational Therapy role is for 26 hours per week, currently worked Monday to Friday. The post also includes additional on‑call and weekend responsibilities to support acute services. As this post is not full time it is not eligible for sponsorship.
The Community Rehabilitation Service is currently under review, with plans to develop into a 7‑day service. This may result in changes to current working patterns.
Benefits and SupportWe strive to help our staff create a healthy work‑life balance through flexible working schemes and our family‑friendly policies. If you are starting out in the NHS, you’ll start with 27 days paid annual leave (plus bank holidays), rising to 33 days plus bank holidays.

We will work together to maintain a culture that develops and supports you and your team. This might include funding for a care certificate, a degree or leadership qualifications, or days off to study, engage in CPD or rotational placements to help you hone your skills.
Wherever you are heading in the NHS, we will help you get there.
Salary is not the only financial benefit.
You will have access to an extensive range of staff discounts on shopping, fitness and leisure options and you can spread the cost of technology and home appliance purchases from major retailers. You will also have access to other benefits including:
