Senior Occupational Therapist (Experts at Hand) - CFHD
CFHD are looking torecruit Senior Occupational Therapists to provide specialist
Occupational Therapy support within the Experts at Hand service through advice,consultation, modelling of strategies, training, and targeted intervention.
There are 5 positions available. 1.0 wte in North, 1.0 wte and 0.5 wte in East, and 2 1.0 wte in South localities.
The post-holder will work as part of the multidisciplinary teamand autonomously to support children and young people, families, and professionals by building capacity within early years, school and post-16settings, delivering training, and offering time-limited direct interventionswhere indicated.
You will need to be ableto provide a high standard of assessment and intervention for the children andyoung people that we work with.
The post is based within the Physical and Sensory Pathway whilst working closely with colleagues across the other pathways within CFHD. We arean innovative, dedicated and friendly service with both development and CPD opportunities.

Main duties of the job- Hold responsibility for the assessment, diagnosis and treatment of a case load within a designated geographical area (Exeter, East and Mid Devon) within own level of competence and capability
- Using a strengths-based approach; ensure clinical effectiveness through the use of evidence-based interventions, goal-based, collaborative practice and Routine Outcome Measures
- Deliver specialist occupational therapy advice, assessment and interventions to a client group of children and young people experiencing a range of difficulties in maximising their occupational performance within different settings
- Interventions may include direct therapy, coaching or training, provision or recommendations for suitable adaptive equipment where this is a statutory provision and provide specialist guidance and recommendations for home or school adaptations
- Supervise and support Occupational Therapy Technicians and/or Integrated Therapy assistants
- Mentor/ clinically supervise newly qualified Occupational Therapists and Band 4/5 staff as required
- Participate in the provision of student placements
- Promote and support participation of service users across the service
- Work across other geographical areas as required to support colleagues according to need and demand
- Part of the role will include assessment and intervention of specialised equipment and environmental adaptations as part of our statutory work completed
Children and Family Health Devon (CFHD) comprises an Alliance of NHS organisations working together to improve health outcomes for children and young people in Devon.
CFHD provides integrated care and treatment for children andyoung people across physical and mental health which are provided by Torbay and South Devon Foundation Trust and Devon Partnership Trust. We are working closely with other organisations and providers to ensure we deliver localityand county-wide based integrated access to all of our services.
CFHD works closely with our local universities of Plymouth,Exeter & the Peninsula Medical School where we support students in clinicaltraining placements and in addition support our own staff to undertake postgraduate training.
Our integrated care and treatment has beendeveloped and refined in partnership with children, young people and their families/carers.
