PURPOSE OF CONSULTANCYThis consultancy is based in the Department of Communications (CMU) at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO). The consultant will provide graphic design and institutional branding support to advance the implementation of PAHO’s Corporate Communications Plan, including the development and application of visual identity standards and the production of print and digital communication assets. The role will work closely with multidisciplinary teams across the Organization to strengthen brand coherence, visibility, and the impact of institutional communications.

Objective of the Office/DepartmentThe Department of Communications (CMU) at the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO/WHO) is responsible for developing and implementing communication strategies that promote the Organization’s leadership in public health and support its mission to improve the health and well‑being of the peoples of the Americas. CMU manages PAHO’s corporate communications and public information efforts, including media relations, social media, digital outreach, internal communications, institutional campaigns, and brand management.
It plays a crucial role in shaping the Organization’s messaging and visibility, engaging with global, regional, and national audiences, and building trust in public health. In accordance with the 2023–2025 PAHO Communications Strategy and the CMU Biennial Work Plan (BWP), the department aims to strengthen news media engagement and improve the production of timely, strategic multimedia content to support PAHO’s institutional priorities and technical cooperation.

The Department of Communications (CMU) is looking to hire a qualified expert in graphic design and institutional branding to support the implementation of the Corporate Communications Plan. This includes developing standards and guidelines and creating visual identity assets and designs for print and digital media. The role involves working with a collaborative, multidisciplinary team to develop, implement, and oversee design and branding efforts across the Organization’s virtual and physical networks.
Deliverables- Support CMU with traffic management, planning, and tracking the status of daily activities related to corporate identity, graphic design, and communications production.
- Develop innovative institutional branding products, including templates, provide graphic design and communications support, and follow CMU planning to complete key projects with internal stakeholders to increase PAHO’s visibility, brand equity, and strengthen the impact of campaigns.
- Participate in concept development and strategy formulation for communication design in digital and multimedia projects for physical exhibits, web products, and communication collateral to support the Corporate Communications work plan.
- Create graphic materials for World Days campaigns and initiatives, including designs for social media engagement on PAHO’s accounts, and other digital content for marketing collateral, presentations, and the web.
- Collaborate with entities throughout the Organization, as well as external consultants and creative agencies when required.
- Track assigned projects, adhere to strict production timelines, and promote follow‑up and status updates of all projects in CMU’s SRS and Proof Hub.
- Maintain organized and accessible project directories with optimized version control and proper backup of project files.
- University degree in graphic design, visual communication, studio art, or a closely related field.
