Recreation Therapy Assistant

Support engagement and well-being as a Recreation Therapy Assistant with Assisted Living Alberta in Barrhead. This role focuses on therapeutic recreation programs tailored for older adults with diverse needs.

As a Therapy Assistant, you'll work in partnership with professional teams, including Recreation Therapists and nursing staff. Your responsibilities include planning, facilitating, and documenting engaging leisure activities for residents with dementia and complex health issues. You'll foster social connections and promote well-being through personal-centered recreation interventions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Facilitate therapeutic recreation programs based on resident preferences

• Document resident participation accurately and confidentially

• Participate in interdisciplinary communication and assessments

• Implement programs alongside the Recreation Therapist

• Encourage involvement in leisure activities to promote belonging

Requirements:

• Diploma from an accredited therapy assistant program

• Knowledge of therapeutic recreation practices

• Experience with older adults, particularly those with cognitive challenges

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

• Commitment to continuous learning and team collaboration
