Senior Controller (Barrie, Ontario)

We are seeking a Senior Controller to oversee all aspects of financial accounting and reporting, ensuring compliance with US GAAP and company policies while delivering accurate and timely financial statements.

• Ensure accurate, timely monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements; enforce GAAP compliance; review close packages and maintain reporting calendars.
• Manage the full close cycle, review journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and variance analyses and drive continuous improvement to shorten close timelines.
• Reconcile accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Ensure quality control over financial transactions and reporting.
• Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls.
• Assist in JJEs annual budgeting process.
• Respond to inquiries from senior leadership and other departmental senior managers regarding financial results.
• Lead and oversee all internal/external audit requests and tax requests; handle ad-hoc requests as required.
• Manage accounting staff: set performance expectations, coach, mentor, hire, and build a high‑performing finance team; provide professional growth support.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and provide constructive feedback.
• Lead ERP enhancements, automation initiatives, and process redesign to improve accuracy and efficiency.
• Champion JJE values and lead a cohesive, engaged accounting team; hold regular meetings, maintain open communication channels.
• Ensure clear, timely communication with senior leadership on emerging issues, including proactive escalation when risks, blockers, or decisions require executive attention.
• Complete additional tasks and projects assigned.

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
• CPA/CA designation required.
• 5+ years of experience in a senior‑level accounting management role.
• Experience working in a publicly traded, multi‑location company.
• Experience managing a team of finance and accounting professionals.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles (US GAAP).
• Financial analysis, budgeting and strategic financial planning experience.
• Advanced experience working with ERP software, Intelli Dealer experience is an asset.
• Advanced/Expert experience using Microsoft Excel.
• Experience working with SOX compliance.
• Technical college certificate or degree (preferred).
• A valid driver’s license and satisfactory driver abstract required for job‑related travel.
• Successful completion of a job‑related background check conducted with candidate consent and in accordance with applicable laws.

• Office setting with eligibility to work up to 1 day per week remotely.
