PLANNER (Barrie Office)

Since 1973, MHBC has grown into an industry-leading planning, urban design, and landscape architecture firm. With 100+ people, 4 Ontario offices, and 1 culture built around doing great work and actually enjoying it. We're currently in search of a Planner to join our Barrie team.

This is a seat at the table, from concept to construction. You ll lead projects, sharpen your craft, and grow alongside people who want you to thrive and succeed.

WHAT YOU LL DO
  • Assist with leading complex development projects including Official Plan and Zoning bylaw amendments, Secondary Plans, Site Plan approvals, Subdivision and Condominium Plan approvals;
  • Assist with presentations at public consultation events, neighbourhood information meetings, Committee/Council meetings;
  • Undertake development application review for municipal clients;
  • Assist with preparing materials for Ontario Land Tribunal (OLT) hearings and related proceedings;
  • Monitor development applications and liaise with municipal staff and review agencies;
  • Undertake site visits to assess locational context, document existing conditions, and surrounding land uses;
  • Assist in the preparation of concept plans, site plans, report graphics and coordinate with technical support staff;
  • Conduct research in land use planning issues in Ontario;
  • Keep up to date and informed with relevant legislation and prepare memorandums to keep colleagues and clients updated as needed.
WHAT YOU BRING
  • Related and progressive experience;
  • A planning or urban design degree or diploma from a recognized college or university;
  • A passion to learn and progress in your planning career;
  • Strong research and analytical skills;
  • Strong problem-solving skills including the ability to assess critical issues;
  • Strong organization and project management skills;
  • Strong communication and presentation skills;
  • A valid driver s licence and access to a vehicle;
  • Membership in OPPI is an asset.
