Full-Time Itinerant Temporary (Not a Teaching Position)
Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) invites applications for an itinerant speech and language assistant to provide speech, language, and literacy support to students individually and in small groups across multiple schools.
Position details: FTE 1.0, 35 hours/week;
Temporary, itinerant. School location:
Education Centre, Midhurst, Ontario. Principal/Manager:
Dr. Bronwen Davis.
- Provide personalized speech, language, and literacy support to students with communication disorders.
- Facilitate one‑on‑one and small‑group intervention sessions.
- Collaborate with Speech and Language Pathologists, teachers, and other multidisciplinary team members.
- Maintain accurate documentation of student progress and support plans.
- Adapt interventions to meet diverse student needs across multiple schools.
- Communicative Disorders Assistant (CDA) certificate.
- Relevant university degree or a two‑year college diploma in human services fields such as behavioural sciences, child and youth work, child‑care work, developmental services work, early childhood education, special‑needs support, human services administration, nursing, sign language communication or interpretation, social services, or an Ontario teaching certificate.
- Copy of certificate, diploma, or degree attached to application portfolio.
- For university‑degree holders: transcripts showing related courses.
- Valid Ontario driver’s licence and a reliable vehicle (kilometre reimbursement at established rate).
- Experience maintaining documentation of a student process.
- Previous experience as a Communicative Disorders Assistant in a school setting.
- Applicants must provide permission to contact two professional references, including current and most recent supervisors.
- New hires will be required to submit a satisfactory Vulnerable Sector Check and complete mandatory training modules.
