2026 Summer Travel for Credit Courses
POSITION SUMMARY:

The Simcoe County District School Board (SCDSB) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of summer travel for credit teacher.

Reporting to the principal(s) of Summer School/Adult and Continuing Education, the travel for credit teachers will be responsible for the instructional delivery, pre and post programming and assessment as well as travel for each respective trip. Teachers are responsible for record‑keeping and final reporting for their assigned course.

Departure destinations will vary and will be the responsibility of the successful teacher to arrange travel arrangements to the destination.

Candidates should ensure they are available for ALL dates posted on the site for the respective trip they are interested in, prior to applying.

SCDSB hosted trips will include:
  • Civics/Careers (CHV2O/GLC2O)- Ottawa, Montreal, NYC (French Required);
    Simcoe, Toronto and London departures
  • Biology (SBI3U/4U) and The Environment & Resource Management (CGR4M)- Fiji
  • English (ENG3U/4U and EWC4U)- Italy
  • English (NBE 3U) Indigenous Voices on the West Coast (British Columbia)
  • Canadian Geography Ontario and Halton Region (CGC1W and CGC1WF
    - French Required)
  • French (FSF3U/4U, FEF3U/4U, FIF3U/4U)- France (French Only)

General Information:
  • Intermediate/Senior qualifications (course specific) required, Special Education preferred
  • FSL qualifications required for French language sections
  • Teach, evaluate, and report on respective course curriculum to students during pre and pos-trip student engagement and throughout travel days to respective destinations
  • Pre and post trip days are online for students. Teachers will be communicating, evaluating, and reporting on student work submitted during those days.
  • Teachers must be available for all course dates
  • Responsibility for managing the D2L shell for assignment submission, marking, and student communication
  • Engage students in a unique experiential learning opportunity
  • Responsible for delivering the D2L-based and experiential-based prepared curriculum capitalizing on the connections within each course’s respective destinations
  • Responsible for the daytime supervision of students in conjunction with Edu Travel staff
  • On-call for evening emergency situations to support Edu Travel staff, if required
  • Must have a valid passport and be an enthusiastic traveler
  • Courses offered and number of sections of course are determined by number of registered participants in cooperation with the partner organization, Edu Travel
