Position: Continuing Education – 2026 Summer Coop Teaching Positions
Location: Midhurst

The Simcoe County District School Board is accepting applicants for the following position: 2026 Summer Coop Teaching Positions.

Reporting to the Principals of Summer School and Adult and Continuing Education, Summer Coop teachers will be responsible for the instructional delivery and student support in the workplace for the duration of the program.

Teachers are responsible for record keeping and final reporting for their assigned students, per curriculum expectations. Curriculum delivery is via D2L platform and students must attend 4 mandatory virtual classes.

Teachers begin managing their class lists June 8, 2025 to ensure proper workplace conditions are met and to ensure students complete mandatory paperwork prior to the first day of work on July 2, 2026.

Teacher contract:
June 8, 2025 - August 7, 2026 = 220 Hours.

Additional Responsibilities
  • Must attend mandatory staff meetings.
  • Must have reliable source of transportation. Mileage is reimbursed at Board rate for student workplace visits.
  • All Summer School positions will be available only if the minimum registration numbers are attained. Please note that due to late registrations, hiring can continue right up to the first two operating days of summer school.

Teaching Responsibilities per R.R.O. 1990, REGULATION 298
  • In addition to the duties assigned to the teacher under the Act and by the board, a teacher shall be responsible for effective instruction, training and evaluation of the progress of pupils in the subjects assigned to the teacher and for the management of the class or classes, and report to the principal on the progress of pupils on request.
  • Carry out the supervisory duties and instructional program assigned to the teacher by the principal and supply such information related thereto as the principal may require.
  • Where the board has appointed teachers under section 14 or 17, cooperate fully with such teachers and with the principal in all matters related to the instruction of pupils.
