Educational Assistant in Special Education

Location: Bradford West Gwillimbury

Become an Educational Assistant committed to aiding students with Autism at Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board. This role requires collaboration in a supportive classroom environment.

Working 33.83 hours per week, you will directly assist school-aged children facing communication challenges. Exceptional candidates will have at least two years of experience and expertise in crisis management strategies.

Your role will involve enhancing students’ self-regulation and life skills through proven strategies.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide personal care and safety support in class

• Collaborate with Special Education Resource Teacher

• Employ de-escalation strategies for challenging behaviors

• Foster independence through skill development

• Engage effectively with the school community

Requirements:

• 2+ years’ experience with Autism or similar disabilities

• Background in crisis management training

• Demonstrated positive communication ability

• Familiarity with assistive communication devices

• Relevant educational qualification in human services
