Time Allocation

1.0 = 100% time or 5.0 days per week; 0.9 = 90% time or 4.5 days per week; 0.8 = 80% time or 4.0 days per week; 0.7 = 70% time or 3.5 days per week; 0.6 = 60% time or 3.0 days per week; 0.5 = 50% time or 2.5 days per week; 0.4 = 40% time or 2.0 days per week;

0.3 = 30% time or 1.5 days per week; 0.2 = 20% time or 1.0 day per week; 0.1 = 10% time or 0.5 days per week.

Qualifications
  • Self‑identify with one of the four equity‑deserving groups designated under the Employment Equity Act or the Ontario Human Rights Code.
  • Have five or more years of permanent contract teaching experience with another school board that can be confirmed through your resume and application.
  • If teaching French or a special needs language (NSL), you must be employed in that subject for the entire term of the contract that is French or NSL for at least five years from your date of hire (Article 9.02 (vii)(a)).
  • Teachers in French or NSL may apply for additional roles to increase their full‑time equivalent while remaining in the French or NSL position, as outlined in Article 9.02 (vii)(b).
Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for effective instruction, training, and assessment of pupils in the assigned subjects and for managing the class(es); report progress to the principal on request.
  • Carry out supervisory duties and the instructional program assigned by the principal, supplying any required information.
  • When appointed under section 14 or 17, cooperate fully with appointed teachers and the principal in all matters related to classroom instruction.
  • Unless otherwise assigned, be present in the classroom at least fifteen minutes before morning classes and five minutes before afternoon classes.
  • Assist the principal in maintaining close cooperation with the community.
  • Prepare teaching plans and outlines as required, submitting them to the principal or supervisory officer on request.
  • Ensure all reasonable safety procedures are carried out in courses and activities for which the teacher is responsible.
  • Cooperate with the principal and other teachers to maintain consistent disciplinary practices.
  • Ensure that report cards are completed and processed in accordance with the provincial guidelines in both English and French.
  • Participate in the administration of tests under the Education Quality and Accountability Office Act.
  • Participate in regular meetings with pupils’ parents or guardians.
  • Perform duties related to co‑operative placements of pupils, as assigned by the principal.
  • Perform duties normally associated with the graduation of pupils.
